The much-awaited SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.2 SP4 was out on 12th May, 2017 and here is a first look on its FIORI Launchpad.

We have the new FIORI launchpad accessible through a separate URL as shown below:

The traditional BI Launchpad : https://YOURAPPSERVER:PORT/BOE/BI
You can access the BI Launchpad URL directly from browser. I couldn’t see any 3rd party authentication for FIORI launchpad at this time. However the Windows AD SSO which we had configured earlier works for the new FIORI launchpad URL as well.

Settings & Preferences
We have limited set of preferences as compared to the BI launchpad. Here it is.
Working with Basic WebI Operations
The tree navigation in the older BI Launchpad is now tab-based in FIORI-like structure, Navigation is Tab based.

You could also undertake further actions through the context menu, such as scheduling reports

You can switch between standard & advanced modes
You can open the WebI report in Designer
Overall, I’m impressed with the new interface & navigation as it appears very sleek and delivers better user experience. I’ll share more details on the BI 4.2 SP4 release in my upcoming blogs.
