Managing External HANA Views in BW/4HANA Cockpit

SAP BW/4HANA cockpit is a Web-based interface used for administration of a BW/4HANA system. In BW/4HANA cockpit under the Data Management tab, we have External SAP HANA Views. All the HANA Views can be managed and administered under this space.

Under this External SAP HANA View, we have five major drill-downs provided to do administration activities.

Object Details

Under this tab, we can find the List of HANA Views based on basic filter options like Object Name, Object Type and Last Changed By.

A button “Adapt Filters” allows us to do All the restrictions/ Filtering on one box. There are Go, Clear, Restore options available.

Object Authorizations

This drill-down allows us to view user-specific object settings.

A single object can be selected, or All BW Objects can be ticked, and Check can be performed for a single user or All Users by Clicking on the Check button that is in the right bottom corner.

The authorization check results are displayed in the scrolling bar section.

Analytic Privileges

This drill-down is used to grant user-specific privileges.

A single object can be selected, or All BW Objects can be ticked, and Authorisations can be given for a single user or All Users by Clicking on the Execute button that is in the right bottom corner.

Database Privileges

This drill-down is used to assign database-related privileges to one or multiple users.

Select a User or click on All Users Check box to select All Users and then click on Execute. The database privileges will be applied for the selected Users.

General Settings

This drill-down is used to manage general object-specific settings. A check can be performed on Technical, Role and Executive settings.

When clicked on Technical user, the technical setting for the default logged in user is checked and results are shown in the pop-up box.

When clicked on Role user, the popup shows the roles that are active for the default logged in user.

Check for an executive user can be performed for current user logged in or any other user by clicking the “Perform checks for other users” radio button and entering the other user technical name.

The information scroll bar now shows all three User Check Results. These are the five drill-downs provided to manage the HANA Views in BW Cockpit. Stay tuned for more development nuggets for BW4/HANA.
