SAP BW/4HANA Cockpit is a Web-based interface used for administration of a BW/4HANA system. In BW/4HANA Cockpit under the Data Management tab, you will find a tile named ‘InfoObjects’. By clicking on that you can do all the necessary administrative tasks related to InfoObject.

So here comes a question what is an administrative task to an InfoObject? Simple. It is just a replica of actions that you do when you right click your InfoObject in the traditional SAP GUI. Along with this the web Cockpit also provides you with much more features that you can play with your InfoObject. It helps you with all the technical information about the contents of an InfoObject.

Let’s get deeper about this tile.

Personalization

When you select this tile, by default you can see few InfoObject objects. You can ‘search’ for the InfoObject that you need by pulling down the arrow button and where you can see a search bar.

You can also filter based upon the aggregation status, which is basically Error, In progress, ok.

When you have selected your InfoObject, the screen displays the overall ‘count of requests’ that have been loaded along with few other default tabs such as below:

These are nothing but the basic filters and you can add on a few more filters or remove this by clicking the settings icon where you can see a big list of filters. These details can also be ‘exported’ as per your required format.

Viewing the Property

When you click on any empty space on the menu bar, you can see a pulldown showing the ‘property’ of your InfoObject.

Displaying Requests

After applying your filters, when you further click the space you can see a list of requests that have been loaded. By default, the system displays the last 10 requests. You can change this by choosing Last 10 Requests.

Under ‘Select status’, you can also display the deleted requests. Requests that have already been activated are not displayed.

By default, the display is updated automatically. If there are too many updates, you can deactivate them using ‘Automatic Updates’ which you can see by clicking the Refresh button in the taskbar.

Working with Data

To work on the data in your InfoObject, you have the following options when you click the ‘further options’ button:

  • Maintain Master Data
  • Delete data

Maintain Master Data

This option provides you with all the necessary feature to deal with your Master Data InfoObject, such as adding a line, editing any data, deleting etc.

You can also do this action by navigating through the tab ‘Data Display and Maintenance -> InfoObject Master Data Maintenance’.

Delete Data

As you decide to delete data, if you are using enhanced master data update, the following applies: Data records for attributes are not deleted completely; they are merely logically deleted. If a record selected for deletion is activated in the inbound table, the attributes of the record are deleted, and the record mode is set to ‘R’. If you delete a record in the text table, it is immediately deleted.

We have discussed all the features which are available for us from the ‘Manage InfoObject’ tile in the Web Cockpit. Similarly, we have many other apps grouped together in BW/4HANA Cockpit to perform specific operations in BW/4HANA system.
