If you have a HANA system, you can connect directly to your HANA system from Analysis for Office. This enables you to bypass the need for universes and connect directly your HANA views.
The below steps illustrate how this can be achieved.
Following are the steps to create the connection between HANA and Analysis for Office (32 Bit):
- Navigate to C:\Windows
- Run odbcad32.exe
- Under User DSN tab -> Add

4. Select the driver HDBODBC32
Analysis Office connects to SAP HANA always via an ODBC layer. It is necessary, hence, to install the HANA ODBC middle-ware on the local machine where the tool is running.
The HANA middle-ware has to be of the same bit version than Analysis office: 32 bit or 64 bit.
From Windows, make sure you start the correct ODBC driver manager.
(File name for the 32bit version: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe;
File name for the 64bit version: C:\Windows\System32\odbcad32.exe).

5. Provide a name and description

6.Provide your credentials. Connect.
